A small private plane crashed in a residential area in San Diego, California in the morning, killing all 6 people on board, including the pilot.
According to the US National Transportation Safety Board, the Cessna 550 Citation aircraft hit a power line at 3:47 a.m. Thursday and fell directly into a residential area. After the plane caught fire, many nearby houses were damaged.
The plane was owned by famous music businessman Dave Shapiro. Along with him, five other people also died in the accident. At least 10 homes in the Murphy Canyon area of San Diego were reported to have sustained minor damage after parts of the plane fell. However, international media reported that there were no serious injuries to the people on the ground.
Music organization Sound Talent Group issued a statement and said, 'We are deeply saddened by the untimely death of our co-founder, dear colleagues and friends. We express our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family at this difficult time.'
The cause of the accident has not yet been revealed, NTSB said. It is known from the preliminary investigation that at that time the lights of the landing strip and weather measuring devices were not working at the airport. It is said that the pilot of the plane did not even send an emergency message.
The security agency has informed that it will take a few weeks for the preliminary investigation report to arrive.
