At least 21 people have died due to storms in two US states, Missouri and Kentucky. Due to the storm, at least more than 200,000 people have become without electricity in both states.

Kentucky Governor Yandy Bescher cited local officials as saying that 14 people died in Kentucky and seven in Missouri due to the storm. The storm hit Laurel County in southeastern Kentucky early Saturday morning local time. Officials said the death toll could rise further.

Missouri officials say Friday's storms damaged more than 5,000 buildings. The roofs of the damaged houses have blown off and the electricity service has been interrupted. About 100,000 homes in St. Louis were affected by power outages. According to the Fire Control Department, house-to-house inspections are being carried out in the places most affected by the storm.
