US President Donald Trump has said that India and Pakistan, which have been aggressive towards each other in the last few days, are ready for a ceasefire. Posting on the social media platform 'Truth Social' on Saturday afternoon, Trump congratulated both countries saying that this was possible with the mediation of the US.
He wrote, 'I am happy to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a complete and immediate ceasefire due to continuous overnight talks and US mediation. I would like to congratulate and thank both countries for this step with discretion and right thinking.'
Similarly, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has also shared a style message on X confirming the intent of Trump's post. He has held continuous talks with Vice President JD Vance, senior Indian and Pakistani officials along with Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Sehbaz Sharif over the past two days and confirmed that the governments of the two countries have agreed to a ceasefire.
Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has also tweeted that India and Pakistan have agreed on a complete ceasefire. India has not yet responded to this.
