Yemen's Houthi rebels have warned of a massive air blockade targeting Israeli airports. As Israel decided to expand its operations in Gaza, the Houthis warned of an air blockade.

Sunday was a missile attack near Israel's Ben Gurion Airport. Iran-backed Houthis claimed responsibility for it. Houthi rebels say they are working in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.

After Sunday's attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he would take revenge. Most attacks from Yemen have been intercepted by Israel's missile defense system. However, there was a drone attack on Tel Aviv last year . Sunday's missile attack is one of a series since March.

Houthi's Humanitarian Operations Coordination Center, a body established last year to liaise between Houthi forces and commercial transport operators, has issued a warning that Israeli airports will be targeted and said that Ben Gurion Airport will be the main target. The

release is attached to an email sent to the International Air Transport Association and the UN's International Civil Aviation Organization. The Houthi army "calls on all international airlines to take the announcement seriously and cancel all flights to airports of the criminal Israeli enemy to ensure the safety of aircraft and passengers".
