The death toll in an explosion at the port of Iran on Saturday morning has reached 28. 800 people were injured and 6 people are still missing in the incident in Shahid Razai port in southern Iran. The explosion blew out windows and roofs of nearby buildings and destroyed vehicles, the BBC reported.

Local residents said that the impact of the explosion was felt up to 50 kilometers away.

Videos verified by the BBC show the fire growing and causing a huge explosion, after which people are fleeing in fear and some injured, covered in smoke and lying in the streets. In a televised statement, the port's customs office said the explosion was likely caused by a fire at a hazardous and chemical storage depot.

In the video shot from the sky, there are at least three places on fire. According to a private maritime security consultancy company, the containers that exploded contained solid fuel for ballistic missiles. According to Embry Intelligence, the fire started when the cargo of solid fuel used in Iranian "ballistic missiles" was not properly handled. An Iranian-flagged ship dropped sodium perchlorate, i.e., rocket fuel, in the port in March 2025, according to Embree.
