The United States has decided to close the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) grant-aid project. According to the decision of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) led by American billionaire Elon Musk, this grant support, which is being given for the economic development of developing countries, will be stopped.
Reuters reports that MCC employees were notified by email of the closure on Tuesday. Employees are likely to be placed on administrative leave from May 5.
The decision to close MCC, which was established by former President George W. Bush in 2004, is part of the Trump administration's cost-cutting policy.
