According to the international media, the death toll has exceeded 200 when the roof of a night club in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, collapsed. AVC News reported that at least 218 people died and 155 people were injured in the incident.

Among the dead are famous baseball player Ctavio Dotel, who retired in 2013, and Dominican singer Ruvi Perez, who sang popular songs such as El Africano and Las Avispas. This incident happened when the roof of the night club called Jet Set collapsed during the live concert of Ruvi Perez on Tuesday morning.

With the help of special equipment including experts, the search and rescue operations are continuing by removing the wreckage. President Luis Rodolfo Abinader expressed his condolences to the victim's family and wrote on social media, 'Since the moment this incident happened, we have been receiving moment-to-moment information. All the rescue agencies are providing necessary assistance and are working round the clock in the rescue operation.'
