A French court has banned Marine Le Pen, leader of the far-right National Rally (RN), from holding public office for five years after finding her guilty of financial embezzlement.

She will not be able to compete in the presidential election in 2027. With the court's decision, his fourth attempt to become the president of France is also certain to fail. Earlier, she competed in the presidential elections of France in 2012, 2017 and 2022.

Penn has been convicted of embezzling European funds to finance his party RN. The president of the court, Benedicte de Perthuis, said that Le Pen's actions were "a serious and permanent attack on the rules of democratic life in Europe, especially in France".

According to international media, Le Pen, who was present in the court during the hearing, left the court before knowing the duration of the ban. Prosecutors had demanded that Le Pen be banned from public office for at least 5 years to prevent her from running in the 2027 presidential election.
