Modi opened Trump's social media account

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has opened an account on Truth Social, a social media platform owned by US President Donald Trump.

In the first post after opening the account, Modi has published a photo taken with Trump in Houston, Texas, during his 2019 US visit. In that post, Modi has mentioned that he is 'happy' to join the Truth social platform.

After losing the presidential election to Joe Biden, Trump was temporarily banned by major social networks such as Twitter (currently X) and Facebook, accusing him of inciting violence. After that Trump started his own social network Truth Social in February 2022.

By Tuesday morning, the number of users following Truth Social Modi has exceeded 21,500. He is following Trump and US Vice President JD Vance.

US President Trump has shared a link to Modi's interview with podcaster Lex Friedman. In the interview, the Indian Prime Minister spoke about his life journey, the Gujarat riots of 2002 and India's relationship with China. In terms of

usage, Truth Social is very similar to X. Users can post 'truth' or 'truth' and send direct messages. Advertisements on the platform are called 'Sponsored Truth'.

Truth Social is owned by Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG). Trump converted to a public company in March 2024. He currently owns about 57 percent of the company's shares.

Truth Social also has a large stake in Kuwait-headquartered investment firm ARC Global Investments and some of Apprentice's former competitors.

President Trump has 9 million 28 thousand followers on Truth Social. But he has 87 million followers on X.

According to Bloomberg, Truth Social's traffic is low compared to its competitors. Its total number of users is 400 times behind X.

TMTG suffered a loss of 400 million US dollars in 2024. Its market valuation is currently 4 billion 450 million dollars.
