At least 51 people have died in a fire in a night club in Macedonia. Officials said at least 100 people were injured in the fire.

According to the BBC, the fire broke out at the Pulse Club in the city of Kokani, about 100 kilometers east of the capital Skopje, at 3 am local time. Footage posted on social media shows the building engulfed in flames.

At the time of the fire, the club was hosting a concert by the popular Macedonian hip-hop band 'ADN'. The local authorities said that 1,050 people attended the concert.

Local media speculated that the fire spread due to the use of fireworks. In public scenes, flames can be seen spreading from the stage .

Interior Minister Pans Toskovski has said that an investigation has been launched into the incident and some arrests have been made.

Prime Minister Hristijan Mikowski issued a statement saying that the loss of many young people's lives was a "difficult and very sad day for the country".

90 of the injured have been admitted to a hospital in Kokani. Some of them have been taken to the hospital in the capital Skopje for further treatment.
