Train hijack in Pakistan, 104 passengers freed

A train carrying more than 400 passengers was captured by armed extremists in Pakistan's Balochistan province on Tuesday.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack. This attack took place on Jafar Express going from Quetta to Peshawar.

According to BBC Urdu, according to Pakistan's military sources, 104 passengers have been rescued after the Zafar Express attack. During this operation, 16 Baloch militants have been killed.

Meanwhile, 80 passengers of Jafar Express have reached Machh railway station. They are receiving first aid. According to the railway officials, there were more than 400 passengers in the 9 compartment train.  It is said that more than 30 Pakistani soldiers have been killed in the operation since

.

Pakistan's Interior Minister Talal Chaudhary has said that several passengers on the train have been taken hostage by the Baloch forces in the mountainous area.

On Tuesday, the spokesperson of the government while talking to Dawn newspaper said that there was a large-scale shelling in the train. On the other hand, the Baloch Liberation Army has claimed that the passengers on the train and several security forces are in their possession. He has also warned that if any military action is taken, there will be serious consequences.

The BLA has given the government 48 hours to exchange hostages in exchange for the release of its fighters.

BLA is a militant group from the Balochistan province of Pakistan. This group has been continuously attacking the Pakistani army, which has been demanding a separate country. Pakistan has been accusing the government of Afghanistan and India of supporting this group.

During the partition of India-Pakistan, the citizens of this region complain that this area should remain as an independent country, but Pakistan annexed it inside Pakistan with the help of military force. Pakistan listed the Baloch group as a terrorist organization in 2007.
