Doctors Without Borders (MSF), a non-governmental medical aid group, has reported that at least 92 people have died of cholera in two weeks in Sudan's White Nile state.

From February 20 to March 5, a total of 2,718 patients were admitted to the Cholera Treatment Center at Kosti Teaching Hospital of the Ministry of Health with the support of MSF.

The wave of waterborne disease cholera occurred on February 16 after the launch of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) at the Umm-Dabakir power station after a large-scale power outage, according to MSF. It is said that after the launch, people were deprived of the water distributed by the state system and because they used and consumed the water available from other sources, it is said that cholera failed.

As of last Tuesday, the Sudanese Ministry of Health announced that the number of cholera cases in the country has reached 57 thousand 135 since July 2024. In which 1 thousand 506 people have died.

The RSF has been attacking Sudan's White Nile state. The most notable of which was the attack on the villages around Al-Gitaina area . In which 433 civilians died.

Sudan has been embroiled in a devastating conflict between the armed forces and the RSF since mid-April 2023, according to the Crisis Monitoring Group, Armed Conflict Locations and Incidents data cited by the United Nations. Which has killed at least 29 thousand 683 people. According to estimates by the International Organization for Migration, the conflict has displaced more than 15 million people both inside and outside Sudan.
