Major European countries have supported the $53 billion plan put forward by Arab leaders to rebuild Gaza without displacing the Palestinians.

The plan prepared by Egypt and supported by Arab leaders is supported by France, Germany, Italy and Britain  The BBC said that they have welcomed. They stated that the plan to rebuild Gaza within five years is practical.

They issued a statement promising that the resolution would rapidly and sustainably improve the catastrophic living standards of the people of Gaza. The plan calls for Gaza to be temporarily governed by a committee of independent experts and for international peacekeeping forces to be deployed in the Gaza Strip. The committee will be responsible for overseeing humanitarian aid and temporarily managing the affairs of Gaza under the supervision of the Palestinian Authority.

With the first six-week phase ending on March 1, the new proposal comes amid growing concern that Gaza's tenuous ceasefire will collapse. Israel has blocked aid from entering the area to pressure Hamas to accept a new US proposal for a temporary extension of the ceasefire. During which additional hostages held in Gaza will be released in exchange for Palestinian prisoners .

US President Donald Trump and Israel have rejected the plan. Trump has been saying that the Palestinians in Gaza should be relocated. Brian Hughes, a spokesman for Trump's National Security Council, said the debris and bombs were uninhabitable. He also said that Trump is clear about the reconstruction of the region and is firm in his goals.
