The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has said that he is ready to resign from the presidency in order to restore peace in Ukraine.

Citing Monday's European meeting, he said, "If there are differences between European countries, it will be like a sad family."

In response to a question regarding the meeting of European leaders to be held in Ukraine from Monday, he said that there are some difficult decisions to be made there.

According to the Ukrainian official, the leaders will discuss their future strategy at the meeting and Zelensky will also talk about Ukraine's security guarantees.

Zelensky said, 'This is war, not child's play. We need partnership, we need cooperation, but we cannot lose our freedom and we cannot lose our respect.'

Zelensky, who is heavily criticizing the new American administration, also said that the American president wants to meet Donald Trump before meeting his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.

Zelensky has been demanding that Ukraine be given membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as part of any agreement to end the war. But the Washington-led coalition has been reluctant to make a commitment.

"If peace is established in Ukraine and for this it is really necessary to leave my post, I am ready to leave my post", Zelensky said at a press conference in Kiev, "I can give it up for NATO membership." He said, "Ukraine needs the support of both Europe and the United States."

Zelensky reacted strongly to the Trump-Putin talks and said that any peace agreement without the participation of Ukraine would be useless. Recently, US President Donald Trump said that he will discuss with Russia in Saudi Arabia to stop the Russia-Ukraine war.  The date for the

talks has not been announced and the US has not even invited Ukraine for this. Zelensky has been saying that Ukraine needs to be included in any discussion about stopping the war.

Apart from Ukraine, many European countries have also said that Europe should also participate in such negotiations along with Ukraine. Zelensky also said his concern is about security guarantees.
