Russia has said that President Vladimir Putin is ready to hold talks with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, if necessary. The Russian statement was made public with the start of talks between Russia and the US representatives in Saudi Arabia on ending the war between Russia and Ukraine that has been going on for three years.

Dmitry Peskov, the spokesman of the Russian Presidential Office, said that "Putin himself is ready to negotiate with Ukrainian President Zelensky if necessary". "But considering the reality that Zelensky's legitimacy may be questioned, the legal basis of the agreements needs to be discussed," he said.

Russia has started talks with American representatives on Tuesday about ending the war with Ukraine that has been going on for three years.
