The Palestinian group Hamas released three more Israeli hostages on Saturday. Alexander Trufanov, Yair Horn and Sagi Dekal-Khen, who had been held hostage by Hamas for 15 months, were released. The hostages have been released for the sixth time since the January 19 ceasefire between Hamas and Israel.

The three released on Saturday were handed over by Hamas to representatives of the International Red Cross in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis. Fighters from Hamas and other Palestinian groups gathered around the platform prepared in that place since Saturday morning.

The Israelis watched the process of hostage release in Gaza by attending the Hostage Square located in Tel. They screamed with joy as the hostages were handed over to the Red Cross. According to the BBC, all three people who were released on Saturday have dual citizenship.

All of them who have returned to Israel after being released are Israelis with citizenship of other countries. 29-year-old Alexander Trufanov has Russian citizenship, Yair Horn has Argentine citizenship and Sagi Dekal-Khen has American citizenship. All three of them were taken hostage and taken to Gaza during an attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023.

After Hamas released three hostages, Israel is also releasing 369 Palestinian prisoners. Hamas had previously released 19 Israeli and 5 Thai hostages under the ceasefire agreement. According to the Red Cross, Israel had previously released 766 Palestinian hostages.

According to Israeli officials, some of those released are those convicted of deadly attacks against Israel. But most of them are arrested during the war and kept in prison without prosecution.
