The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won the Delhi assembly elections. According to the Election Commission of India, the BJP won 48 seats in the 70-member Assembly. Along with this, BJP is going to form the government in Delhi after 27 years. 36 seats are required to form the government in Delhi.
The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has shrunk to 22 seats. AAP leader and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been defeated in the elections. Kejriwal was defeated by BJP's entry Burma by 4 thousand 89 votes.
Delhi's former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has also been defeated. He was defeated by BJP candidate Tarvinder Singh Marwah. The current Chief Minister Atishi has won the election.
According to local media, she defeated BJP's Ramesh Bidhudi by 3,500 votes. The Indian National Congress, the main opposition party in the federal parliament of India, did not win any seats.
