The Palestinian group Hamas released three more Israeli hostages from the Gaza Strip on Saturday.  Three people have been released for the fifth time since the ceasefire came into effect.

52-year-old Eli Sharabi, 56-year-old Ohad Ben Ami and 34-year-old Ar Levi are civilians who were freed on Saturday. Hamas took them hostage and took them to Gaza after the attack on October 7, 2023.

Along with the release of three people by Hamas, Israel has also released 183 more Palestinian prisoners. More than 70 of those released on Saturday are serving life or long prison terms. A cease-fire agreement was signed between Israel and Hamas on January 19. According to the agreement, Hamas has released 21 hostages. 383 Palestinian prisoners have been released.

Hamas has agreed to release 33 Israeli hostages in the first phase of a six-week ceasefire. In exchange, it is said that about 1900 Palestinian prisoners will be released. It is said that some of the 33 people have died.

In the ceasefire agreement, negotiations for the second phase were supposed to be held 16 days after the first phase began. Accordingly, no information has been given about the fact that the talks should have started last Monday. In the second phase of the ceasefire, the rest of the hostages will be released and the Israeli forces will be completely withdrawn from Gaza.

However, according to the cease-fire agreement, Hamas has accused Israel of not providing assistance in sending humanitarian aid to Gaza. The press office of Hamas said that since the cease-fire, 12,000 trucks carrying aid were supposed to arrive in Gaza, but only 8,500 have arrived. But the UN said that 10 such vehicles have arrived in Gaza since the ceasefire.

It is said that the reconstruction of Gaza will proceed in the third and final phase and it may take a long time. The ceasefire agreement states that the bodies of the remaining hostages will be returned at this stage. But US President Donald Trump has said that he will take control of the Gaza Strip and resettle the Palestinians in other countries for its reconstruction. Because of this, there is more concern about the future of the Gaza Strip and the Palestinians.
