Gandaki Member of Parliament Saraswati Gurung, who is on a visit to the UK, has met the Minister of Services, Small Business and Exports of the UK, Gareth Thomas. The Nepalese delegation, including Gurung, discussed with Minister Thomas, especially Nepal's tourism promotion, development assistance, foreign investment, settlement of the ex-Gorkha issue, etc.

MP Gurung said that along with the promotion of tourism, visits between the UK and the Government of Nepal at the civilian level would help in the cultural exchange between the two countries. He said that if such civil visits can be conducted, the relationship between the citizens of the two countries can be strengthened. During the

meeting, MP Gurung requested Minister Thomas to initiate British investment in Nepal's hydropower sector, pointing out that there is great potential. MP Gurung also discussed with Minister Thomas about the pension of Bhupu British Gurkha and other service facilities. MP Gurung also emphasized that the British government should resolve the demands of Bhupu Gorkhas as soon as possible. During the

meeting, MP Gurung complained that many Nepali students have come to study in the UK, but according to the rules of the UK government, the provision that the students can work 20 hours a week is not enough. Reminding students that it is uncomfortable to live in the UK with 20-hour earnings, she requested to take the initiative to increase the time they get to work.
