Sam Altman, the creator of the most popular generative AI tool 'ChatGPT', has been accused of sexual abuse by his own sister. This news is currently shaking the technology sector. Ann Altman, Sam's sister, has filed a lawsuit alleging that her brother regularly sexually abused her when she was a child.
It is mentioned in the petition filed by Ann that Sam regularly sexually abused her from 1997 to 2006 . N claims that the abuse happens 'several times a week'. According to the BBC, the case was filed in the US District Court of Missouri on January 6. In the application, N mentioned that her brother started sexually abusing her since she was three years old and she was 12 years old at that time.
Sam has issued a long statement on the social media platform 'X' saying that all those allegations are false. He issued a joint statement with his mother Connie Altman and two brothers Jack and Max Altman, denying the allegations made by Ann.
'All these allegations are completely untrue,' the statement said, 'taking care of a family member who is suffering from mental health problems is extremely challenging.' Sam has said that they have even offered to buy, but their sister is 'constantly asking them for more money'.
The last incident of abuse in the indictment occurred after Sam was an adult and Ann was a minor, according to CNBC news. Although N has made similar allegations against her brother on social media platforms including X before, this is the first time she has filed a case in court, according to CNBC.
According to the documents submitted by Ann to the court, Sam used to harass or threaten her with the purpose of 'grooming and manipulation', meaning sexual exploitation. Ann alleges that he sexually abused her for many years . She said that she was subjected to 'rape, sexual abuse, unnatural sexual relations, physical attacks'. She mentioned that she suffered 'serious physical injuries', emotional pain and depression from this incident.
Ann claims to have treated such injuries many times and spent a lot of money for mental health . Sam said that he has been trying many ways over the years to help Ann and improve her health. "This situation has caused great pain to our entire family," Sam's statement said.
Ann has demanded a jury trial and more than $75,000 in damages in the petition. Jury trials are also prevalent in the American justice system.
