A court of Bangladesh has again issued an arrest warrant against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The International Criminal Tribunal of Bangladesh has issued an arrest warrant against 77-year-old Hasina, who was living in exile in India last August after the student-led movement ousted the government, on charges of crimes against humanity.

The tribunal had already issued an arrest warrant against him. Hasina has been accused of extrajudicial killing of political opponents and extensive human rights violations during her 15-year tenure. Bangladeshi security personnel illegally detained more than 500 people and some of them were kept in secret places for years.

After the former Prime Minister Hasina left power, the painful incidents experienced by the victims started to be made public. "The court has issued arrest warrant against 11 people including Sheikh Hasina and her military advisor, military personnel and other law enforcement officials," said the court official.

Bangladesh had sent a diplomatic letter to India last December asking Hasina to return to Bangladesh. But Delhi refused to answer it. With Hasina's exit, dozens of her associates have been detained. They are accused of being involved in police control and action.
