A South Korean court has issued an arrest warrant against the suspended President Eun Suk Yeol. According to the investigators, an arrest warrant was issued against him on December 3 regarding the implementation of 'martial law'.

"As requested by the Joint Investigation Headquarters, an arrest and search warrant has been issued for President Yoon Suk Yeol," the Joint Investigation Headquarters said in a statement. Investigators sought an arrest warrant on Monday after the suspended president failed to appear for questioning for the third time.

Yoon's lawyer  He said the investigators had no authority to examine the president and called the impeached president's arrest warrant "illegal and invalid." Yun is facing criminal charges related to rebellion. It is said that if he is found guilty in the said case, he will be sentenced to life imprisonment or even death.

The Korean Parliament has already passed the impeachment motion against President Yun. But the final decision on the impeachment will be made by the 9-member Constitutional Court. If 6 of them are in favor of the impeachment, the position of the President will be vacant. Within 60 days of that, there is an election to elect a new president.

With Yoon suspended, Prime Minister Han Duk-soo became acting president . But after Acting President Han refused to appoint a judge nominated by the main opposition Democratic Party to the Constitutional Court, the Parliament passed the impeachment against him.
