At least 69 people have died after a boat capsized in Morocco. The ferry going to Spain from West Africa overturned in Morocco. According to the BBC, at least 25 civilians are from Mali.

It is mentioned in the news that there were about 80 passengers on the boat and 11 managed to survive. Mali has just confirmed that the accident happened last week, according to the BBC. The military took power in Mali in 2020 and 2021 after a long period of violent conflict.

Although the military government promised to hold general elections in 2024, it has not happened yet. Looking at the situation in the country, most of the citizens of Mali are trying to make a risky journey by boat to go to Europe.
