Foreign travel ban on South Korean president

South Korean authorities have banned President Eun Suk Yeol from traveling abroad on Monday. Yonhap news agency reported that the head of the corruption investigation agency ordered President Yun to be banned from traveling abroad.

Bae Sang-up, Commissioner of Immigration Services under South Korea's Ministry of Law, said during the parliamentary hearing that President Yun was banned from traveling abroad. Along with Yun, a number of top officials in his administration have also been banned from travel.

President Yun is under investigation after he unexpectedly implemented the emergency "martial law" last week. The military regime announced by Yun was overturned by the parliament within a few hours. Yun then retraced his steps .

After that, the MPs of the opposition party submitted an impeachment proposal to the parliament against Yun. But the parliamentarians of his party People's Power Party (PPP) boycotted the vote on the impeachment last Sunday. Due to which he was saved from impeachment . However, the opposition parties are preparing to file a new impeachment motion against him this week.

After the declaration of martial law, tens of thousands of South Koreans demonstrated. PPP said that the party leader and the Prime Minister said that they will run the country until the systematic resignation of President Yoon .

PPP leader Han Dong-hun said in a public address on Sunday that he will not get involved in foreign and domestic affairs until President Yun resigns.
