Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in Iran on Wednesday by 'Israel's attack'. The Palestinian militant group Hamas and Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards have confirmed that he was killed.

Haniya attended the swearing-in ceremony of Iran's new president on Tuesday. "Early this morning, Ismail Hania's residence was attacked in Tehran, killing him and one of his bodyguards," the Revolutionary Guards said.

Israel has not yet officially said anything about Hania's death. But Amiche Eliyahu, Minister of Heritage of the Israeli government, responded that 'this is the right way to clean such garbage from the world'.

According to Times of Israel , Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed his ministers not to talk about Hania's murder. Minister Eliyahu's reaction came despite Prime Minister Netanyahu's instructions.

Ismail Haniya was the head of the political department of Hamas . He is also the tenth Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority. Haniyeh, considered the softest of Hamas leaders, was born in a refugee camp in Palestine. In 1989, he was imprisoned by Israel for 3 years.

He was in exile in the 'No Man's Land' between Israel and Lebanon for some time and was appointed as the head of office of Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, the leader of Hamas, in 1997 . He was appointed Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority by Hamas in 2006. But less than a year later, the head of the Palestinian National Authority, Mohammad Abbas, dismissed Hania from his post.

Haniyeh was appointed by Hamas as head of its political department on May 6, 2017. In 2018, the US State Department declared Hania a terrorist. Recently, Hania was living in Qatar.
