Nepal Telecom has launched 4G service in Kagkot, the center of Chharka Tangsong Rural Municipality in Dolpa. Nepal Telecom spokesperson Kamal Lamichhane informed that the service was launched through microwave radio by installing 4G equipment on a tower in Mukot, located at an altitude of 4,200 meters above sea level. With this, the number of local levels that have reached Nepal Telecom's 4G service has reached 750. This is the first 4G site launched in Upper Dolpa. Now, the telecom's 4G service is yet to reach Dolpo Buddha Rural Municipality and Shey Phoksundo Rural Municipality in Dolpa district and Narpa Bhumi Rural Municipality in Manang. Nepal Telecom has stated that it will continue to expand 4G service to these local bodies in the near future.
With the expansion of 4G services, it is expected that local residents, trekkers and tourists will have easier access to communication, as well as support in various administrative, security, health and educational activities, and will also contribute positively to overall regional development by connecting remote Himalayan areas with modern digital networks.
