Communication and Information Technology Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung has said that the next decade will be promoted as the information technology decade with the goal of using information technology as a pillar of development.
Answering the questions raised on the appropriation topic in the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday, Minister Gurung has made it clear that exportable information technology will be developed by attracting the private sector in the field of information technology.
Minister Gurung made it clear that the long-term thinking of achieving economic, social transformation and economic prosperity through information technology by attracting young manpower in the field of information and technology and creating opportunities for employment and self-employment. Mentioning that the ministry is committed to promoting good governance and e-governance and the observance of ethics, he informed that the budget has been allocated based on six areas related to the ministry's scope of work.
He said, 'Using the latest applications developed in the field of information technology, developing an exportable information technology industry by attracting the private sector in this field, creating opportunities for employment and self-employment by attracting young manpower in the field of information technology, and using information technology as a pillar of development by making maximum use of information technology in public service delivery, the next decade has been advanced as an information technology decade. The Ministry of Information Technology has a long-term vision of achieving economic social transformation and economic prosperity through information technology.'
According to him, the policy and program and budget for the next financial year 2082/83 are basically based on six areas namely mass communication, telecommunication, information technology, postal service, film and printing. In that financial year, 7 billion 71 crore 99 lakh rupees have been allocated for the ministry and subordinate agencies. Out of which 75 percent is the current mandatory liability and the rest is allocated towards capital expenditure.
According to Minister Gurung, Nepal Telecommunication Authority, Nepal Telecommunication Company Limited, National News Committee, Public Service Broadcasting Organization (Radio Nepal, Nepal Television), Gorkhapatra Institute and Film Development Board have been mobilizing the Government of Nepal and their own internal resources on matters related to the Ministry.
He informed that an integrated action plan of annual programs will be prepared and implemented from July for the implementation of the subjects related to the ministry and for achieving the target of the set indicators and regular monitoring and evaluation will be done.
