Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that Nepal has lost a place to place its satellite in space and they have searched and found it. In a program organized on Friday on the occasion of National Information Technology Day, he expressed the opinion that it is necessary to have one's own satellite, adding the issues of self-reliance in technology and national security.

"Since I was the Prime Minister for the first time, I searched that we need our satellite in space," he said. Searching for that, we have brought space to keep our satellite .

Prime Minister Oli said that it is necessary to be self-sufficient in technology and expressed concern that national security and privacy may be in crisis if we rely on technology made by others. "Individuals have privacy, the nation also has it, we have to manage it," he said, "Until we have our own satellite and we can use this technology under our own control, in that case it is impossible to say how secure our data system will be."

On May 5, 2076, with the help of the American space agency NASA, Nepal launched its own satellite 'Nepali Sat-1' from America for the first time. The satellite, weighing about one kilogram, was carried to the International Space Station by placing it in a spacecraft called "Antares". Remembering the said nano satellite, Prime Minister Oli said that even though the satellite is not currently active, according to him, other technologists are making new efforts.

For the construction and operation of satellites that can be operated in the long term, significant investment is required and infrastructure must also be built on the ground. It is mentioned that the government will prepare the basis of its own satellite operation in the policy and program of the next fiscal year. In the policy and program read by President Paudel, it is said, "In order to increase the communication and monitoring capacity, the basis of Nepal's own satellite operation will be prepared."
