In recent times, it has become like every human's dream - space flight. Space travel is not as easy as it sounds exciting and exciting. Even a long stay there is even more fulfilling. They have to face many difficulties to sleep, eat, drink water and move around.

Now there is a question among women all over the world, how do women who live in space for a long time manage their periods? Because there is no gravity in space like on earth . You have to spend your days there in zero gravity.

Sunita Williams recently returned from spending 9 months and 13 days in space with Butch Wilmore. She went for 8 days and stayed there for 9 months when a technical problem occurred in the spacecraft. During that time, she slowly revealed the problems, difficulties and experiences she faced. But now the answer to the question of how women who stay in space for such a long time manage their periods is important.

The first woman traveled to space in 1963 . Valentina Tereshkova is the first woman to reach space. Since then, 99 women have traveled to space. Some of them were for a few days and some spent months.    How is menstruation management in space?

During menstruation, women are experiencing many complications on earth . After reaching space, there was no way to overcome this problem . It is not easy to eat, sit, defecate, or even walk in a space that floats down to a drop of water.

What is the condition of the blood flowing from the body during menstruation, how is the pad used there? Female astronauts have shared their experiences on this matter.

Women get two options
Margaret Rhea Seddon, a female astronaut from the American space agency NASA, has talked about this issue in an interview with the media. Referring to the interview given in the same media, Times of India has prepared a report . According to the report, to find out whether or not there is menstruation in space, the first thing women do is check the blood stains on the clothes.

How is menstruation management in space?

Rhea is an American astronaut . Born on November 8, 1947, she has traveled to space three times. 12 April 1985,  She traveled in space on June 5, 1991 and October 18, 1993, and she has kept her experience on menstrual management while there.

Although she is currently retired from NASA, she is the chief medical officer of Vanderbilt Medical Group's auxiliary medical team .

Checking for blood stains on clothes during menstruation, scheduling tampon changes and managing menstruation is the most demanding and stressful experience in the space . A tampon is finger-shaped and made of several layers of cotton. Which helps to absorb the blood flowing from the vagina during menstruation . It is placed inside the vagina .

The interesting thing is that blood does not float like water floats in space. For the same reason, the blood flowing through the body is freed from the risk of floating in zero gravity. But other problems seen on earth during menstruation remain there too.  How is menstruation management in space?

According to Riya, especially in space, women have two options for menstrual management. The first is to stay in space with menstruation. It manages menstruation even though it is painful. Since the blood does not float, they use sanitary pads. Pads are designed to be more suitable for space than those used on Earth. Looking at the duration of time in space, they take it .

Another convenient option is the use of hormonal contraceptives. It can prevent menstruation . But the right to choose between living with menstruation or using birth control pills rests entirely in women's space .

Using birth control pills stops menstruation . But it should be used daily. It is also a safe and effective remedy . It does not have any side effect on the body of women. Which is used keeping in mind the duration of the mission and the health condition . (with the help of agencies)
