Fourteen women who went to search for mushrooms in Shuklaphanta National Park have gone missing. They went to search for mushrooms on Sunday afternoon and have not been contacted since Monday morning.
According to DSP Tek Bahadur Rawat of the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, the police and a team of the Nepal Army deployed for park security are still searching for them.
They are from Bhimdatta Municipality-19 and Bedkot Municipality-10 in Kanchanpur and entered the park around 2 pm on Sunday to search for mushrooms. Police have said that they are all women. They entered the park in two groups, one of 5 and the other of 9.
According to Jogram Chaudhary, ward chairman of Bhimdatta Municipality-19, 3 women from Bedkot Municipality-10 Chatahari and 11 women from Bhimdatta Municipality-19 Bagphanta have entered the park. Some of them are even from the same family.
