Shivanath Rural Municipality in Baitadi has provided scholarships to students pursuing higher education in technical fields. According to Rural Municipality Chair Karn Singh Saud, the municipality has been awarding scholarships for the past four years to poor and meritorious students pursuing higher education in technical streams.
“This year, we have provided scholarships worth 500,000 rupees to eight students pursuing higher education in technical fields,” he said. “Among the applicants, the Scholarship Management Committee selected the students who were awarded the scholarships.”
This year, Sachin Kumar Saud was awarded 125,000 rupees to study MBBS, and Niraj Dhanadi received 75,000 rupees to study BE Civil. Similarly, scholarships were provided to Naveen Saud, Manish Mehta, Pratibha Saud, Deepak Chand, Praveen Singh Saud, and Anjali Saud to study BSc Ag, with each receiving 50,000 rupees.
The rural municipality had called for applications for scholarships from students with permanent residence within the municipality who are pursuing higher education in technical fields. Scholarships were awarded to students selected from among the applicants.
Chief Administrative Officer Ekaraj Acharya stated that the rural municipality has formulated an Educational Scholarship Management Procedure and, accordingly, deposits the scholarship amounts into the accounts of the selected students.
Chair Saud said that scholarships are provided so that students are not deprived of the opportunity to pursue higher education in technical fields due to poor economic conditions.
