Last Poush, Jogbuda Provincial Hospital, which had been upgraded to a 50-bed provincial hospital, successfully conducted emergency obstetric services (emergency LSCS) for the first time.
According to the hospital, on Thursday, a 19-year-old pregnant woman required emergency surgery after her pregnancy had gone past the due date (post-date), there was a severe decrease in amniotic fluid (severe oligohydramnios), and she developed liver/gallbladder-related complications seen during pregnancy (obstetric cholestasis). Obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Ram Kumar Yadav stated that both the mother and the baby were in normal condition following the surgery.
The surgical team included Dr. Yadav, Medical Officer Dr. Deven Kathayat, Anesthetic Inspector Khemraj Bhatt, scrub nurse Urmila Mal, and circulating nurse Babita Nath, among other health workers.
The Sudurpaschim Provincial Government upgraded Jogbuda Hospital to a 50-bed provincial hospital on the 21st of Poush. Since then, the hospital has been advancing in the management of specialist personnel, service expansion, and infrastructure strengthening. The hospital administration stated that successfully performing an emergency obstetric surgery for the first time since its upgrade to a provincial hospital is a significant achievement for the hospital.
Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Krishnaraj Joshi said that specialist services have been gradually expanding since the hospital was declared a provincial hospital. Noting that the successful completion of the first emergency obstetric surgery marks a new beginning for the hospital's services, he added that in the coming days, regular obstetric surgeries, general surgeries, and other specialist services would also be further expanded. He expressed confidence that this would gradually reduce the compulsion for patients from areas such as Parshuram Municipality, Alital Rural Municipality, and nearby regions bordering India to travel to Dhangadhi, Nepalgunj, or elsewhere for anything from basic to specialist care.
Dr. Joshi stated that as specialist services are added, the hospital is continuously expanding services with the goal of providing quality and accessible healthcare at the local level. Earlier, on Wednesday, a 52-year-old man had successfully undergone surgery for hernia and hydrocele.
