With the vaccination of all children up to 59 months in all 10 municipalities, the district has been declared fully immunized and sustainable for the 11th time.
Baitadi was declared a fully immunized district in 2072 BS. This year, the district has been declared fully immunized and sustainable for the 11th time, said Tirtha Raj Bhatta, Chief of the Health Office, Baitadi.
He said that the full immunization sustainability assurance campaign will help improve the health system, contribute to sustainable development, and support maternal and child health. The district has been declared fully immunized and sustainable only after monitoring the vaccination of children from birth to 59 months in all 84 wards of all local levels.
The number of children from birth to 15 months and 11,794 children from 16 to 59 months obtained from the vaccination survey is 3,931. Among them, 1 child between birth and 15 months and 17 children between 16 and 59 months were found to have missed some or the other vaccination, informed Harish Bhatt, Vaccination Supervisor of the Health Office, Baitadi. He said that all these missed children have also been vaccinated.
A district is declared as a district with complete vaccination and sustainability only after the District Vaccination Coordination Committee reaches all the wards in the district and verifies that complete vaccination has been done. According to the Health Office, while comparing the progress of the regular vaccination program in the last four fiscal years, progress has been seen as per the indicator target of complete vaccination, Supervisor Bhatt said that some children were left out in the statistics because some children were staying with their parents in India and received some doses of the vaccine there and some were missed.
In the program, one health worker from each local level who made an outstanding contribution to vaccination services was also honored. Vaccination services have been started in Nepal since 2034 BS with 4 types of vaccines.
