The sixth convocation ceremony of Sudurpaschim University has been concluded. On Friday, Education and Sports Minister Sasmit Pokharel, who is also the Vice-Chancellor of the university, conferred the convocation on about 2,500 students from various faculties. According to the university, 2,489 students who have completed their undergraduate, postgraduate, MPhil and doctoral studies have been conferred. Students who have achieved excellent results in various faculties have been awarded various medals. Addressing the convocation ceremony, Education Minister Pokharel, who is also the Vice-Chancellor, said that it is necessary to include subjects that are needed by students at the global level and stop students from going abroad. “Students should be stopped by including the subjects that they are having to go abroad to study,” he said. Minister Pokharel also said that initiatives are being taken to bring the encroached 300 bighas of land of Tikapur Multiple Campus under the university’s jurisdiction. He said that the land would be brought to the university's use soon after the encroachment was removed.
The convocation ceremony was held under the chief guestship of litterateur and educationist Tulsi Prasad Joshi. Established in 2067, the university has 16 constituent and 31 affiliated campuses and more than 24,000 students.
