After a dispute between residents of Bajura and Humla in the Lampata-Rani Sain area escalated, a team of the Armed Police Force and Nepal Police left for Lampata from Bajura headquarters Martadi on Wednesday to establish a temporary joint security base in Lampata. Lampata area is at least three days away from the headquarters.

According to the Armed Police Force 7 Far-Western Office, Attariya, a 28-member security team led by an Armed Police Inspector and seven from the Nepal Police has left for Lampata. The team from the Armed Police Force is led by Armed Police Inspector Janak Poudel, while a team led by Police Assistant Inspector Mithu Bahadur Bohara has been deployed from the Nepal Police.

The dispute began after Bajura established a temporary police post in Lampata. In the process, some locals from Humla attacked tourists, local residents, public representatives and employees going to Ranisain. This week, daily protests and sit-ins are being held in the district headquarters, Martadi, over the beatings and arson of Bajura residents.

Bajura residents have been demanding security and saying that a permanent security mechanism should be set up in Lampata. The District Police Office has stated that a team has been deployed to establish a temporary security base.
