Madan KC, a young man from Dang, has embarked on a five-year national trek with the aim of getting to know the country closely, understanding it and writing the story of Nepal that he experienced with his own feet. KC, 28, from Tulsipur Sub-metropolitan City in Dang, said that he has reached Dadeldhura as the seventh district under the campaign to walk through all 77 districts of Nepal.

He officially started the campaign named 'Great Nepal Five-Year National Trek' from Lumbini, the Buddha Land, on Chaitra 5. Two months after starting the journey, he reached Dadeldhura after passing through Kapilvastu, Dang, Banke, Bardiya, Kailali and Kanchanpur.

According to KC, this journey is a campaign to study Nepal in depth. ‘My aim is to collect the real picture of Nepal that I have seen with my own eyes and felt with my own feet,’ he said, ‘I plan to eventually make a documentary and write a book covering the country’s possibilities, dreams, challenges, social conditions, culture and local language.’

KC is carrying out his journey entirely on foot. He is committed to not using any vehicle during the journey. He plans to not even return home during the five-year, 1,825-day journey. Madan, who set out on a trek from Lumbini, arrives in Dadeldhura

Although most such visits are limited to district headquarters, he said that his campaign is of a different nature. He is trying to understand local life by visiting rural settlements, historical sites, religious areas, cultural heritage and tourist destinations in each district. He said that his priority is to reach villages and communicate directly with the people rather than traveling on highways.

Stating that Nepal's geographical diversity, linguistic heritage and cultural diversity are unique in the world, KC said that the trek is helping him understand the true nature of the country. He is meeting locals at various places and documenting their experiences, problems, expectations and possibilities.

According to him, the ultimate achievement of the trek is not only reaching 77 districts but also publishing a documentary and book covering various aspects of Nepal based on the experiences, studies and records collected during the trek. He believes that this will help future generations understand the real social, cultural and geographical situation of Nepal.

He said that the trek towards the hilly districts of the Sudurpaschim Province has begun with the entry into Dadeldhura. He plans to continue the trek to other parts of the country in the coming days through districts such as Baitadi, Doti, Achham, Bajura, Bajhang, Darchula and others.
