The hailstorm that hit Bogtan Foodsil Rural Municipality-7, Chanukanda on Wednesday night caused extensive damage. Locals said that dozens of houses, including a school building, were damaged due to the storm. Naresh Bam, chairman of the school management committee, informed that the storm blew off the roofs of two buildings of the local 'Chanukanda Basic School'. According to him, the roofs of the building housing the administrative office and the building housing the computer room were completely blown off. According to Chairman Bam, 'When the roof of the administrative building blew off, important documents of the school were damaged and many books were also destroyed. The computers, printers and furniture in the computer room were also damaged,' he said. He said that the storm blew off the roof of the school for hundreds of meters.
Locals said that most of the houses in the village were also damaged. "Most of the houses with tin roofs have had their roofs blown off, while houses with thatched and stone roofs have also been affected. The hailstorm that followed the roofs have caused further damage," said Chairman Bam. He said that although the material damage was extensive, there was no human loss.
