The Land Problem Resolution Commission District Committee Baitadi is preparing to distribute land deeds to 20 squatters of Pancheshwor Rural Municipality.

The Land Problem Resolution Commission District Committee Baitadi has already prepared to distribute land deeds to 20 of the 59 squatters certified by the rural municipality in the first phase, informed Ramesh Pandey, Chairman of the Land Problem Resolution Commission District Committee Baitadi.

‘After no one claims the right in the seven-day notice, the three-generation details of the so-called landless squatters will be submitted to the Land Revenue Office,’ he said. ‘Those who have submitted three generations will be distributed only after confirming that there is no land/land in any place in their names.’

A seven-day notice has been published to provide land to the landless squatters. Chairman Pandey said that preparations for providing surveyed land to landless Dalits and landless squatters who have been certified in coordination with the rural municipality have reached the final stage.

The process of distributing land titles has not started as other local levels except Pancheshwor Rural Municipality in the district have not taken up the certification work. Rural Municipality Chairman Gorakh Bahadur Chand said that the rural municipality is investigating as per the circular issued by the government to vacate encroached government land.

There are 59 landless families in Pancheshwor alone, while there are 400 unorganized settlements in Harahari. More than 3,000 landless Dalits, landless squatters and unorganized settlers have registered applications in the district.
