The blood transfusion center established 10 years ago at the District Hospital, Darchula has come into operation. House of Representatives member Ganesh Singh Thagunna inaugurated the center during a program organized on Sunday.

The center, established in 2073 under the leadership of the Nepal Red Cross Society District Branch, has been operational since Thursday, said Dr. Ravindra Bhattarai of the District Hospital. The center will be operated in coordination with the District Hospital.

According to Red Cross Society Darchula President Gopal Singh Mahara, financial and material support was provided by the Far Western Provincial Government, civil servants, security agencies and various organizations for the operation of the center.

At the program, House of Representatives member Thagunna emphasized that the blood transfusion center should be operated regularly, systematically and sustainably. He said that he is ready to provide support through the central and provincial governments for the necessary equipment and materials.

Even though the center is operational, there are challenges in its sustainable management, said Hospital Management Committee Chairman Toran Awasthi. The center still lacks the necessary equipment.
