Five people were injured in a fight between prisoners inside the Kanchanpur Jail in Bhimdatta Municipality-18, Bhagatpur.
Some of the 372 prisoners in the jail fought among themselves on Wednesday afternoon, the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, has said. The prisoners injured in the incident have been sent to Mahakali Provincial Hospital, Mahendranagar, for treatment, the police said.
The injured include 23-year-old Om Prakash Gharedi of Shuklaphanta Municipality-7, 19-year-old Bhuvan Nath of Shuklaphanta Municipality-11, 26-year-old Bhuvan Air of the same place, Ayush Bam of Bhimdatta Municipality-7, and Raju Damai of Belauri Municipality-8.
A 19-member team under the command of a police inspector has been deployed after the incident, and the situation in the jail is currently under control, the District Police Office has said.
