The Brahmdev Bazaar in Bhimdatta Municipality-9 has been bustling for the past few days. The marginal market on the banks of the Mahakali River has seen increased activity due to the Purnagiri Fair in the past few days.

The Purnagiri Fair, which begins on the day of Phagu Purnima, attracts a large number of visitors to the Siddha Baba temple here. That is why the market here is also crowded. The crowd of visitors has also increased here because it is now Navratri time.

‘The Purnagiri Fair has increased the activity,’ said Mohandev Pant, a businessman in Brahmdev, ‘but the crowd is less than in the past, and there is not much business.’ According to him, the number of visitors coming to the Purnagiri Fair is decreasing day by day. Due to which the business of the marginal market, which depends on the fair, is also declining.

There is a legend that after visiting the Purnagiri temple in the Chure hills of Champawat district of Uttarakhand, India, one's wishes will be fulfilled only after visiting Brahmadev or Siddhababa in Mahendranagar in Nepal. According to the same belief, the devotees reach the Siddhababa temple along with Purnagiri.

The Purnagiri fair is mainly visited by devotees from Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi and other states of India. From Nepal, devotees also come from the Far West, Lumbini and Karnali. Although there are few devotees from Nepal, thousands of devotees from India arrive in a single day.

Along with Brahmadev, the Mahendranagar market has also become bustling at this time. The crowd of devotees has also increased as it is the time of Chaita Dashain. Shyam Singh from Lakhimpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, said that many people from the village come to this fair every year.

The fair, which starts from Phagu Purnima, continues till Asar. It gets more crowded during Navratri in Chaite Dashain. Similarly, devotees come to Purnagiri and Siddha Baba all year round.
