The construction of the statue has been started at the initiative of the Dilpeshwar Sports Club with the aim of perpetuating the memory of the abbot (Peer) Chandranath Yogi, who is associated with the historical and spiritual identity of the Dilpeshwar area. The club has stated that the construction work has been carried out through the collection of labor and donations from the public.

According to the club's president Rambhakta Sunar, Chandranath Yogi, who later came as a pir to the holy place where Lord Ram's ancestor, King Dilip, performed penance, won the hearts of the people of Doti by doing remarkable work in the Dipayal area. Since his contribution is very great, the construction of the statue has been started so that it can be easily remembered.

The life of abbot Chandranath Yogi is considered a unique example of sacrifice, spiritual practice and service. Born on 13th Baisakh, 1994 BS, his father is Shivnath Yogi and mother is Devanath Yogi. He took up the spiritual path at a young age and took sannyas at the age of about 8 years.

He reached Banaras, India, to study Sanskrit up to the level of Shastri, and acquired deep spiritual knowledge in Haridwar. He entered Dilpeshwar Math in 2002 BS and remained as the abbot of the Math for a long time and took charge of the entire responsibility of the Math.

Under his leadership, important works such as the start of Gurukul education, the establishment of a religious library, the establishment of Dilpeshwar Secondary School, and the operation of an Ayurvedic dispensary to provide free medical services to the general public were completed. He also made significant contributions to agriculture, cottage industries, fruit gardens, park construction, and the modernization of the Math.

As a yoga guru, he was active in the protection and promotion of Sanatan Dharma by establishing a yoga ashram and was known for his extremely disciplined lifestyle. While he was the abbot, he never slept on the bed but only practiced meditation in the Padmasana posture, which his followers consider to be the highest form of spiritual practice.

Yogi, who became a Brahmin on Bhadra 23, 2070 BS, had dedicated his life to social service as the head of the Dilpeshwor Math for about 68 years.

According to the club, the construction of the statue is expected to not only honor a great personality but also preserve and promote the religious and cultural identity of Doti.

In recent times, the ‘Dilpeshwor Sports Club’ has been playing an active role in social, cultural and religious activities along with sports. The club has been conducting various programs with the aim of guiding the youth in a positive direction, preserving local traditions and maintaining unity in the community.
