Krishna Dutta Bhatta, a senior divisional forest officer who accused Sudurpaschim Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah of demanding a bribe, has been arrested. Bhatta, who works in the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment, was arrested by police deployed from the District Police Office, Kailali today from the ministry.

The Chief Minister's personal secretary Prayagya Khanal had filed a complaint against Bhatta for electronic crimes. Bhatta had been claiming that the Chief Minister had demanded money to stop his transfer, while the Chief Minister had been calling it baseless.

DSP Yogendra Timilsina, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Kailali, said that a complaint was filed against Bhatta for electronic crimes on 29th Falgun. Based on the complaint, Bhatta was arrested at 1 pm today from the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment, where he works. 'We arrested him based on the complaint filed for electronic crimes on the 29th. Now the investigation will proceed after the court extends the deadline,' DSP Timilsina said.

Bhatta was transferred to Pahalmanpur on 30th Shrawan by the Chief Secretary-level decision of the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers. Bhatta had filed a writ petition in the High Court, Dipayal, alleging that he was transferred against the law. The court had issued an interim order not to implement the transfer decision. After some time, the High Court had set aside the order not to implement the transfer decision, and Senior Divisional Forest Officer Bhatta was dragged to the Provincial Forest Directorate. Bhatta had accused the Chief Minister of arbitrarily transferring him after he did not pay Rs 500,000.
