Senior citizens of Achham have participated in the voting in the House of Representatives elections with their pain, hopes and worries about the future.
Setu Bista, 70, of Mangalsen Municipality-3, voted with tears in her eyes. She has two sons, but one of them is abroad for employment.
‘I have two sons, but only one is in front of my eyes. I don’t know when my son who has gone abroad will return,’ she said. ‘I worry about whether I will be able to see my son’s face when I die.’
She said that she voted with the hope that employment will be created in the country and that no one’s children will be forced to go abroad. ‘I feel that no one’s children will suffer abroad, or die after being shot,’ she said.
Similarly, Basanti Bista, 75, of Mangalsen Municipality-3, also said that she voted with the desire to see her children and grandchildren around her.
After casting her vote, she bowed to the ballot box and said, "I want to be able to look at my grandchildren's faces when I get old. I voted because I want my children not to have to go abroad and to be able to live here."
