Less than half of the votes were cast in Dadeldhura in the voting held on Thursday. The polling station where former Prime Minister and former Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba had voted in the past also saw a low voter turnout this time.

A total of 1,326 voters were registered at the Ruwakhola ‘A’ and ‘B’ polling stations of Ashigram Secondary School located in Ganyapadhura Rural Municipality-1. Of these, 644 were registered at ‘A’ centre and 682 at ‘B’ centre.

Ratan Bahadur Bhandari, the polling officer at Ashigram Secondary School Ruwakhola ‘A’ centre, informed that a total of 574 votes were registered, including 293 at ‘A’ centre and 281 at ‘B’ centre.

Accordingly, less than half of the votes were registered at both centres. Deuba used to vote at the polling station in the past when he was contesting elections himself. But this time Deuba has neither become a candidate nor participated in the voting.

According to the reports received from various polling stations across the district, voter turnout in many places has been lower than expected. Although the election was conducted peacefully, voter enthusiasm has been low.
