The National Independent Party (NISP) has been found to have violated the code of conduct by using a large number of vehicles in Baitadi without permission. Baitadi candidate Harimohan Bhandari has violated the code of conduct by using a large number of light vehicles and organizing rallies and corner meetings without obtaining permission from the Chief Electoral Officer.
The Office of the Election Code of Conduct Monitoring Officer, Baitadi, published a notice on Falgun 20, stating that candidates should use only two two-wheelers, three-wheelers and four-wheelers powered by electric and mechanical power, with permission from the Chief Electoral Officer.
Similarly, the code of conduct states that no procession, public meeting, corner meeting or gathering should be held in a public place without obtaining permission from the local administration and that the local administration and police should be informed of the location of the meeting or rally 24 hours in advance.
It was found that many vehicles were used in the rally and corner meeting organized by Bhandari, the candidate of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Baitadi on Sunday, contrary to the code of conduct. Candidate Bhandari had taken permission to organize only the rally and did not inform anyone about the corner meeting, informed Election Code of Conduct Monitoring Officer Binod Bhattarai. ‘We have received complaints about the use of vehicles in violation of the code of conduct and we had called the candidate and reminded him about it,’ he said, ‘We are further investigating the matter. If the code of conduct is found to be violated, we will definitely take action.’
More than 20 four-wheelers and eight two-wheelers were used in the rally and corner meeting with flags. Candidate Bhandari said that the rally and corner meeting were organized from Sillegada in the district to Satbanjh, Dehimadau, Shahilek, Gothalapani and Jhulaghat.
