A girl has died after being attacked by an elephant at the Dhakka camp of Shuklaphanta National Park in Laljhadi Rural Municipality-6 of Kanchanpur.
According to the police, 6-year-old Rejina Saund died. On Saturday night, an elephant attacked Rejina and her grandmother Parbati while they were sleeping after destroying their house.
SP Khadak Bahadur Khatri of the District Police Office, Kanchanpur said that Rejina died during treatment at the Navajivan Hospital in Dhangadhi. According to him, the injured 55-year-old Parbati is undergoing treatment.
More than 600 displaced families are living in the Dhakka camp of Shuklaphanta National Park. Since the displaced people could not be resettled during the expansion of the then Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve, they are living in the park and other areas.
