The death toll in a bus carrying a bride has reached 8 in Baitadi. The bus, which was returning from Bhauni in Purchaudi Municipality-7 to Sunkuda in Bajhang, met with an accident at Badgaun Ghumti in Purchaudi-7.

DSP Deepak Kumar Ray, Chief of the District Police Office, Baitadi, said that eight people died in a bus accident involving Pawandoot Transport's Supp 02-001 Kha 1119.

The deceased include one woman and seven men. The deceased are Keshav Raj Joshi, 40, Ashok Raj Joshi, 13, Basanta Joshi, 35, Bishnu Dutta Joshi, 41, Naresh Raj Joshi, 42, Mohan Dev Bhatta, 60, of Kedarsyu Rural Municipality, Basanta Raj Ratla, 40, of Jayaprithi Municipality-7, and Pushpa Awasthi, 40, of Baitadi Purchaudi-7, DSP Ray said. Police said that 45 people were rescued and sent to the Kotila Health Post.

The bus fell about 200 meters off the road. As rescue operations are currently underway at the scene by locals and police, further details are awaited. Police have said that the bus may have met with an accident due to excessive load on the uphill road.
