Assistant Chief District Officer Amar Bahadur Oli granted citizenship. Both were deprived of services and facilities provided by the state due to lack of citizenship. Both are happy to have received citizenship in the latter half of their lives.

NB Tamang, who came from Solukhumbu and has been living in Dadeldhura for more than four decades, has received citizenship. Assistant Chief District Officer Oli informed that Tamang, who came here in 2035, has not been able to obtain citizenship. Tamang, whose date of birth is 30 Chaitra, 2008, is currently living in Amargadhi-5. His permanent address is mentioned in the citizenship as Amargadhi Municipality-5, Dadeldhura.

Tamang said that after receiving citizenship, he also became a Nepali citizen. ‘I didn’t know that citizenship was necessary before,’ he said, ‘Now I finally get old-age allowance, I got citizenship knowing that the government will take care of me in my old age.’ He said that after spending some time in various places in eastern Nepal, he traveled the country while working as a laborer in road construction and other works. He said that he has been living in Dadeldhura for the last 40 years and has been earning his living by working in various places. Tamang’s wife has passed away. He has no children.

He was recently working in Gujarat.

Khadka said that it has been only a week since he returned to Nepal. He said that the district administration came after he suggested that everyone should get citizenship after coming here. ‘There is no need for Nepali citizenship in India,’ he said. ‘I got citizenship because I would also get allowance in old age after coming to Nepal.’ He said that he returned to Nepal after the company he worked for a long time moved to another location.

Assistant Chief District Officer Oli said that the office is committed to ensuring the constitutional right to obtain citizenship. ‘Citizens who have been without citizenship for a long time have been granted citizenship after completing the legal process,’ he said. He said that after obtaining citizenship on the basis of descent, they have access to social security allowance, health services and other state facilities.
