Six people have died in a bus carrying a newborn baby in an accident in Baitadi.
The bus, which was returning to Bajhang from Bhauni in Purchaudi Municipality-7 of the district, met with an accident in Badgaun Ghumti of the same ward of Purchaudi.
Four people died on the spot and two others died during treatment in the accident involving the bus number Suppra 02-001 Kha 1119 of Pawandoot Yatayat, informed DSP Deepak Kumar Ray, Chief of the District Police Office, Baitadi.
The names and addresses of only four of the deceased have been revealed. The deceased are Keshav Joshi, 40, of Bitthadchir Rural Municipality-7 of Bajhang, Ashok Joshi, 13, of the same place, Basanta Joshi, 35, of the same place, and Mohandev Bhatta, 60, of Kedarsyun Rural Municipality, DSP Ray said. Police said that 45 people have been rescued and sent to the Kotila Health Post.
The bus had fallen about 200 meters off the road. Police say that more details are yet to come as locals and police are currently carrying out rescue work at the scene.
